Gates are important for any business as they control access to the premises ad also adds to its protection. Most gates either swing open or slide across to provide the needed opening for entry of people and vehicles.
Cantilever gates are those that slide across but use the cantilever system to do so. The gate is structured in such a way that it hangs over its support without having anything external bracing it. The gate hangs above the ground and uses gates posts for support. Unlike sliding gates, of which category cantilever gates are, the gate in the case of a cantilever type will not touch the ground or even have a wheel that requires to be supported on the ground. Sliding gates have wheels or rollers that allow the gate to slide along tracks laid in the ground. These cantilever gates, instead, are suspended from the posts on which they are mounted.
Cantilever gates need to be of very robust construction and made of strong materials that will allow them to withstand both the forces of gravity and the stress caused by its operations or by the wind. Their cantilever construction where all the weight is borne by the post and the gate frame itself, requires them to have proper diagonal bracing to enable them to maintain their shape.
Cantilever gates make better use of space as they slide across rather than swinging out. A gate that swings out always requires the space in front of it to be clear and remain unutilised. A cantilever gate slides along the fence or wall, and this occupies very little space during its operation. The simpler movement involved in the closing and opening of cantilever gates make them much safer to use. Cantilever gates are cheaper than swing gates and also require a single operator. Install these gates with nylon rollers and you have rollers and bearings that do not need to be greased, and nor will they rust.
Cantilever gates are easy to adjust and modify if any changes are needed at later dates. As no part of them ever touches the ground, these gates can be installed over any type of ground, and even in water. They can work at any angle, so steep inclines are no problem. They hardly make any noise during their operation as wheels running on tracks of other sliding gates will make. A properly designed cantilever gate has a longer lifespan, because it never has to endure any friction.
