Pros and Cons of an Artificial Lawn

Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to cut the grass again? With the installation of the first artificial grass installation in Texas in 1966, it has become possible to homeowners to ditch their lawnmowers and enjoy the garden more.  But what are the pros and cons of having this type of lawn?

One of the major pros is that it saves your time and money.  With an artificial lawn, you will save water and the need to cut it. Within the synthetic grass, there are small holes that allow water to drain away without the worry of muddy shoes! It also means that you have a perfect lawn all the time, no matter the season or weather.

There are, however, some cons.  Synthetic grass can get hot in high heat.  There is an option to add cooling technology, but this is at an additional cost. The square foot price of artificial grass is relatively high, too, so the cost of installing soon mounts up. You also need to replace the anti-shock layer every few years so that it continues to have a spongy, grass-like feeling underfoot.
