How are Marigolds Beneficial to Your Vegetable Garden?

Marigolds are a small, beautiful, bright yellow or sometimes orange annual flowering plant that offers many benefits if planted alongside vegetables or other delicate plants. They typically only grow 6-12 inches in height but there are certain varieties that can grow as tall as four feet. These little beauties like areas with full sun and tend to be tolerant if neglected occasionally. You can use them in vegetable patches and planters alike.

Marigolds are excellent for repelling unwanted pests such as mosquitoes, cabbageworms and cabbage moths with their very unique and some feel, unpleasant smell. Even below the ground these handy plants repel nematodes, microscopic worms, which could be harmful to vegetables such as tomatoes. Another benefit of the marigold is that it attracts ladybirds which will help eat harmful aphids. Some marigolds are even edible. Using marigolds as a beneficial addition to your garden will help bring many positive results.
